The Football Association (The FA) was founded in 1863 is the governing body of the game in England. The FA is responsible for all regulatory aspects of the game of football in England with all of the countries professional football clubs being members of the Football Association. The FA is responsible for the appointment of the management of the England men's and women's national teams and the organisation of the FA Cup.
Senior National Game Development Manager will report to the Head of National Game and the purpose of the position will include:
- Leading and coordinating Football Development within the National Game (NG).
- To oversee and implement the NGS Growth and Retention, Raising Standards, Better Players and Workforce goals and associated targets.
- To oversee and implement the Programmes and targets within the Whole Sport Plan.
- Providing leadership and developing high quality programmes and resources to support Football Development within the NG.
- To oversee the co-ordination of high quality FA Football Development support services and programmes to County FA’s.
The responsibilities of the role will include, but not be limited to:
- Leading the implementation of NGS Growth and Retention, Raising Standards, Better Players and Workforce goals and associated targets.
- Leading the implementation of key areas of the Whole Sport Plan.
- Supporting the development of referees including recruitment and retention of 8,000 new referees by 2012.
- Delivering the FA’s Education Programme including the targets within The English Schools FA, Independent Schools FA, Higher Education and Further Education strategies.
- Sustaining and increase the number of affiliated teams including: mini-soccer, youth male and female, adult male and female, male and female disability 11-a-side and small-sided.
- Delivering the targets set out in the Women and Girls’ and Disability Strategies that impact on the NG.
- Acting as the key point of contact for Sport England, UK Sport and The Football Foundation.
- Developing and maintaining close working relationships with Senior National Game Managers and FA staff to coordinate delivery of the NGS.
The successful candidate will have a proven history of delivering complex, multi stakeholder projects in the UK sports sector and a passion for football at all levels. Experience of developing successful partnerships & securing investment, the capability to think strategically and an understanding of the National League System and Women’s Pyramid of Football will be a distinct advantage.
