The RCO will reside in the “Academy Athlete Housing” (Monday to
Friday) to care, safeguard, support, manage and establish routines and
boundaries for up to five young athletes (under the age of 18 years, but
not below 16 years). The RCO will create an environment to aid the
progress of the athletes’ training where they thrive and achieve full
potential in all aspects of their lives including independence skills for
transition to adulthood. The RCO, in liaison with GB Taekwondo
performance and medical staff, will promote the athletes’ physical,
intellectual, emotional, social and behavioural development.
Working closely with young athletes on a daily basis it is important that
the RCO builds trust and mutual respect with young people as soon as
possible and be able to adapt communication bearing in mind the different
needs of young athletes.
Skills & Experience Required
Experience of working in a residential child care setting
Knowledge of safeguarding children
Minimum NVQ1 in childcare and willingness and ability to undertake mandatory training
Good written and verbal communication skills
Report writing experience
Full manual driving licence
Must be at least 22 (national minimum standards)
Salary: up to £16,000 per annum; job share considered on pro-rata basis.
Benefits: full rent subsidy, allowance for utility bills and groceries, and training and development support.
Term: 24 month contract, subject to 3 month satisfactory probationary period.
This job requires an enhanced disclosure with children’s barred list check(s) and two written references in relation to safeguarding/suitability to work with children, as well as continual professional development.
