Job Details

A leading sporting goods brand combining both performance and lifestyle products is recruiting a General Merchandising Manager to lead their footwear lifestyle team. This is a crucial role for the business as the brand continues to grow in the UK and international markets.

A category merchandising expert is required to create and drive a clear and consistent vision through managing the process of insights, line planning and development whilst managing an established team of product experts.
 

Given the various components of this role, time and focus will be spread across a number of key areas:

  • Market Research and Analysis – Research the Marketplace
  • Business / Financial Results
  • Product Line Planning / Merchandising
  • Process Management
  • Presentations / Internal Communication
  • Leadership/People Management / HRP


Required Skills:

Technical

  • Significant experience in product related role
  • Strong merchandising and footwear generalist experience and knowledge
  • High level of understanding or retail buying and/or sales
  • High level of understanding of merchandising, line planning and development
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of people and inspire them to a common goal. 
  • Ability to create consensus and work cooperatively
  • Communications skills; 
  • Written: Ability to present thoughts and ideas on paper clearly, concisely and accurately.
  • Verbal: Ability to articulate situations and information in easily understood terms.
  • Proficiency in PC software packages (Microsoft, etc) and ability to work in a SAP environment.

  • Multi-tasking: Ability to handle multiple tasks at any one time.
  • Accuracy: Ability to ensure information, facts and figures are accurate and free from mistakes.
