England Hockey Board (EHB) is the National Governing Body for the sport of Hockey.  EHB has income and expenditure of circa £7m p.a.  It is responsible for the management and development of the sport from grass roots to elite activities.

Entering into a very exciting phase with London 2012 just 18 months away, EHB has an unparalleled opportunity to engage existing and new audiences.  We are looking for a Marketing Manager to manage EHB’s brand and market its products and services to maximise commercial revenue.

 

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The main duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of the EHB and GB Hockey brand strategy in order to maximize growth potential and return on investment.
  • Develop and review EHB’s marketing strategy and work alongside the Communications Manager to secure available EHB channels of communication.
  • Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns by understanding commercial objectives, target outcomes, target timeframe and budgets across the following EHB products and services –
    • Tickets – matches and events
    • Membership
    • Corporate packages
    • Quicksticks and new secondary school product
    • Rush Hockey
    • Get Back Into
    • Retail
    • Other products and programmes as required
  • Analyse methods and media to reach target market and effectiveness of marketing messages and campaigns with target customers.
  • Manage EHB’s design and print requirement to help execute above marketing campaigns
  • Working with the CRM Officer, manage and develop EHB’s CRM strategy including data management, data profiling, data segmentation, data acquisition and customer experience.
  • Manage EHB research activity to gain customer insight from which to base future plans.
  • Work with the Business Development Manager to leverage third party relationships for marketing gain.

 

Variations of job relating to Major Matches and Events

  • Attendance at all major match and event days.
  • General assistance with any aspects of event management as required.

 

Key work objectives & KPIs

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Meet and exceed agreed revenue as well as net profit targets.
  • Develop creative, integrated marketing campaigns that capture imaginations.
  • Increase EHB brand awareness.
  • Embed operational excellence and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Commercial Team.

 

REPORTING TO COMMERCIAL AND MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR

He/she will have no direct reports. He/she will contribute as one of a number of National Managers across the organisation as and when required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

You will have a - Minimum five years’ experience in a marketing environment.  Experience in sports marketing beneficial but not essential.

 

Experience and competencies required:

  • Educated to Graduate level or can demonstrate intellectual capability in terms of numeracy and literacy
  • Proven marketing experience, ideally in a rights-holder environment, with a creative approach to business development.
  • A track record of achieving financial targets and managing marketing budgets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly writing promotional content.
  • Good understanding of CRM systems, email broadcast systems and other marketing tools.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Persuasive communicator and positive interpersonal skills both with clients and colleagues
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • A results-orientated mentality.
  • An ambitious attitude to career development.
  • Evidence of creative thinking and an innovative approach to meeting marketing challenges.
  • Positive, outgoing personality, persistent and resilient.
  • Ability to forge strong relationships and a team player.
  • A broad understanding of the business of sport, and hockey would be useful
