Background
Established in 1870, the Port Adelaide Football Club is one of Australia’s leading sporting organisations with a proud, successful history in both the AFL and SANFL competitions.
The Club's new China Strategy is designed to create opportunities to bring people together through football and grow business relationships. The AFL is Australia's most popular sport and is a great way for a Chinese company interested in investing in, or trading with, an Australian partner to develop networks and build trust.
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Sales Executive to join our China team based in Adelaide. Reporting to the Head of Commercial – China, you will be responsible for commercialising the Club’s China Strategy which includes securing partnerships for the Club’s existing program of China activity, including participation in the first AFL game to be played in China in May 2017, from both the Australian and Chinese markets.

Key Responsibilities
  • New client prospecting to identify, engage, sell and  renew Commercial Partnerships for the Club’s China programs
  • Develop tailored marketing solutions for prospective partners across the varied Club channels which includes sponsorship, advertising, venue media and digital campaigns, experiential, hospitality, community and game development programs
  • Working collaboratively with all Club departments to identify, develop and maximise commercial opportunities.

This role has the potential to be transferred to China in the future and we therefore seek applications from candidates with a desire for an international role/relocation.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential:

  • Sales/Business Development experience with a history of successful results
  • Sponsorship sales and/or Integrated marketing experience
  • Highly developed negotiation skills
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills
  • An established network within the international business community
  • The ability to thrive in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment
  • The ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Desired:

  • A demonstrated history of successfully doing business in China 
  • Tertiary marketing qualifications  
  • The ability to speak Mandarin is preferable
