Cricket NSW is the administrative body for cricket in NSW, and is responsible for the selection and administration of NSW Blues, NSW Breakers and two BBL teams Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder.  
The Game Development Department is responsible for growing cricket participation and inspiring the next generation of players and fans. The department is charged with the challenging task of igniting and maintaining a lifelong connection with cricket by recognising the diverse needs of participants and subsequently developing formats and pathways to meet such diversity.
Game Development is focused particularly on driving passion amongst primary-aged children with the purpose of achieving the Associations strategic goals of maximising both interest and participation in cricket in NSW.  
The primary purpose of the Development Leader Sixers Metro Region is to oversee game development in the Sixers Metro Region and lead a team of Cricket Development Managers, facilitating participation growth and increasing awareness within a designated region of NSW. This role will also work closely with the Game Development Leadership Group, develop operational plans for direct reports designed to achieve KPI’s in line with Cricket NSW strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all Development staff are trained in the promotion and execution of school cricket programs
  • Manage Development staff to assist meeting targets outlined as part of the census
  • Ensure all school programs are linked to local MILO in2CRICKET Centres, MILO T20 Blast Centres and local club teams
  • Assist staff to recruit as many School Cricket Ambassadors as possible, as measured in the annual Cricket Census
  • Drive and implement the Australian Cricket Pathway into the region, including the roll out of the recommended Australian Cricket Junior Formats.
  • In conjunction with staff and Centre Coordinators, deliver the CNSW MILO in2CRICKET and MILO T20 Blast Plan
  • Develop a strategic plan for the growth of club cricket in the region, collaborating with Cricket Region and external stakeholders
  • Manage staff to recruit and retain as many cricketers [female/male/multicultural/indigenous/all abilities] as possible in your club network, as recorded in the annual Cricket Census
  • Influence, inspire, encourage and assist staff, clubs and associations to adopt appropriate formats, recruitment initiatives, facility strategies and internal operating methods
  • Establish yourself and your staff as the primary contacts for cricket matters in your region
  • Ensure key local stakeholders receive a high level of service and support
  • Manage staff in the up-skilling of cricket volunteers in the in2CRICKET, T20 Blast, club and school cricket sectors of your region
  • Collaborate with the Community Engagement Manager to deliver inclusion programs encouraging all to have an involvement in the code:
    • Female
    • Multicultural Programs
    • Indigenous Programs
    • All Abilities Programs
  • Seek to develop partnerships with organisations that share common goals and values
  • Develop a network of advocates for cricket in the region that can form a cricket reference group
  • Support festivals and other activities where cricket can be used as a catalyst for social cohesion
  • Ensure Cricket gains a significant presence in all media to assist staff in promoting programs
  • Collaborate with the Game Development Leadership Group to deliver a range of programs and activities, ensuring best practice
  • Develop a strategic plan for facilities in the region, engaging with local governments as required
Support T20 Franchise
  • Support the delivery of match day activities at Sydney Sixers games
  • Support opportunities for the promotion of the Sydney Sixers throughout the cricket community

Skills & Experience Required


  • Significant experience and/or strong appreciation of sports administration/sporting industry
  • Excellent management skills that enable staff to excel and achieve goals as set out in their operational plans
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with an ability to motivate, positively influence and build strong stakeholder relationships
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional administrative skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritise work commitments and deadlines, whilst maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team with the flexibility to interact with a wide range of staff/stakeholders including professional staff and volunteers
  • Comprehensive knowledge of community participation in sport, including volunteer management would be an advantage
