An exciting opportunity has arisen within an independent creative agency with over 25 years of experience, helping brands create extraordinary experiences to engage with live audiences.
They are now looking for a Sponsorship Director with sports sponsorship and events/ experiential marketing experience to work in the sports and events team, acting as No.2 to the division director. The division is responsible for all non-media sponsorship and experiential marketing activity including sports marketing, music and athlete endorsements.
The successful candidate will be responsible on a day to day basis for managing the activation of a multitude of campaigns for clients, covering both strategic consultancy work and campaign implementation. The role also involves supporting the Directors in developing new business from both inside and outside the company and being responsible for team targets.
In the last 6 years the team has worked on a wide range of sponsorship programmes across Europe and extensively in Sub Saharan Africa:

Key Responsibilities
-
Actively account manage and ensure the smooth running of the consultancy projects, events, experiential campaigns and sponsorships that your team have responsibility for (including event creation and more traditional sports and entertainment sponsorships: rights maximisation, event management, media leveraging, PR and evaluation).

To support the winning of new sponsorship and experiential projects from existing and new clients; including finding and developing leads as well as leading and delivering pitches.

Identify and create effective sponsorship programmes that meet the clients objectives utilising research, market knowledge, experience and intuition

Develop a strong understanding of clients external and internal business operations and develop a good understanding of the market place and issues they face in order to deliver strong and powerful sponsorship solutions

Manage rights holders, external suppliers and agency relationship, ensuring at all times that all contractual obligations are fulfilled

Manage the team in developing and maintaining first class administration on all client accounts

Ensure the team effectively monitor and evaluate sponsorship programmes using desk and proprietary research

Have a strong understanding of the dynamics, costs and potential of events as a communication channel and be able to use this to add value to a clients events communication strategy

Provide training, mentoring and management of your subordinates who will directly report to you
Skills & Experience Required

A fully developed understanding of the role of sponsorship, experiential marketing and live events as part of the marketing mix, and the benefits of live events as a communications channel

Extensive experience and strong understanding of the business of sport (specifically football)

Strong project management and time management skills are absolutely key

Demonstrable skills in sponsorship and live event marketing strategy, negotiation and execution

Ability to juggle a number of projects and tasks at once and consistently deliver high-quality work to tight timescales

Comfortable taking ownership and responsibility for the projects you are running, while delegating effectively to other team members

People supervision – monitor day to day aspects of your teams work to ensure professional development and high quality output

Ability to deliver creative ideas taking into consideration all association marketing channels

Comfortable knowing when tough decisions need to be made, gathering the information needed to make them and then taking those decisions where appropriate

A thorough knowledge of the sponsorship and events marketplace and opportunities available

Strong presentation writing and delivering skills

Proven ability to generate new business and persuasively sell new ideas with confidence, passion and enthusiasm to clients and internal stakeholders

A knowledge of PR and quantitative and qualitative brand, sponsorship and event research within a sponsorship context
