Key Accountabilities: 

  • Responsible for all legal matters in connection with The O2 and Thames Clippers
  • Oversee The O2 legal department, including budgeting, work delegation and performance reviews
  • Oversee company secretarial duties for AEG UK companies
  • Draft, review and negotiate (and/or manage) all contracts for The O2 and Thames Clippers
  • Provide employment and litigation support for The O2 and Thames Clippers
  • Provide ad hoc legal support for AEG businesses and operations within Europe

 

Main Activities:

  • Managing The O2 legal team, including delegation of work, monitoring workload and wellbeing and performance reviews;
  • Assisting General Counsel (Facilities) and Chief Legal Officer in creating the AEG UK legal budget each year;
  • Supervising (and undertaking) drafting, review and negotiation of contracts and general legal support relating to The O2 and Thames Clippers in all areas.  Includes real estate (both as landlord and tenant),  events/venue hire, marketing, ticketing, sponsorship, service providers, financing arrangements, IP/IT/software, development/construction, employment, litigation, data protection and new business opportunities;
  • Supervising (and, where appropriate, undertaking) AEG’s legal support for the charity The British Music Experience;
  • Supervising (and, where appropriate, undertaking) company secretarial work for all AEG UK companies;
  • Developing internal procedures and best practice including compiling legal precedents and know how;
  • Managing relationships with legal contacts at key clients (e.g. sponsors);
  • Developing and maintaining effective teamwork within departments and offices of AEG, including attendance at The O2 heads of department meetings;
  • Providing and promoting the highest level of customer service;
  • Continuously seeking ways to improve personal, team and business performance;
  • Complying with all Health and Safety regulations and safe working practice as required by current legislation and the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and practices;
  • Ensuring that all relevant information is communicated speedily and accurately in a way that ensures that the information is received and easily understood;
  • Ensuring that all materials and resources are effectively and efficiently utilised to minimise waste and reduce costs;
  • Undertaking any other relevant duties or reasonable requests from the AEG UK/Europe Directors and the AEG UK/Europe senior management team, in particular the Chief Legal and Business Development Officer;

 

Skills & Experience:

Essential

  • Relevant post qualification experience
  • Strong all round commercial contract experience
  • Transaction management experience
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to work under pressure
  • Corporate experience
  • Confident and capable of fitting into a strong, busy and lively team and environment
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritise workload
  • Positive with a “can do” attitude
  • Team player who enjoys working in a high achieving environment
  • Commitment to delivering the best

Desirable

  • Real Estate experience
  • In-house experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Exposure to and experience of the music/sport/entertainment industry and an interest in entertainment environment preferable
