Based in Southern Switzerland and reporting to the Development Manager you will be supervising a small team within Product Development in the brands’ European Headquarters.



General Summary

As a member of the team, you will be involved in taking product from design concept, to salesman samples, and into production. Liaising with the Product Manager, designers, factories to ensure ideas and concepts are executed in the best possible way, meeting company profit margins; ensuring quality standards and ensuring suitability for end use for the consumer.

 

Primary Accountabilities

  • Review new concepts / styles with Designers/Product Managers and oversee the Design Handover process, ensuring the development team have all relevant info to create specification packages with accurate technical details; bill of materials, construction details, size specs and grades using our in-house PDM system.
  • Supervise the fitting and evaluation of samples to ensure all development changes are executed properly.
  • Prepare and lead fit sessions; offering suggestions on improved construction; aesthetics; fit and consistency.
  • Plan and track development schedule of all products to ensure timely completion.
  • Work with vendors to build best possible quality product.
  • Maintain in-house work in progress reports and ensure all key global deadlines are met.
  • Work with Product Acquisition to ensure timely delivery of sales samples.
  • Work with USA / Asia colleagues to ensure all products meet required standards.
  • Help to guide/support the other product developers, and be able to up-date
  • Development Manager regularly on project .progress.
  • Drive calendar process and deadlines.
  • Costing responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and /or abilities
required for the individual to be successful in this position.

  • Education: degree in a textile, manufacturing or engineering profession within the apparel industry. Alternatively, a proven track record, of at least 7 years experience preferably in the outdoor industry or similar environment, including experience in supervising others, would be considered.
  • Experience: 7 years experience in the development of outerwear and sportswear
    garments.
  • Language skills: strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent understanding of the English language especially in manufacturing and technical terms.
  • Analytical/Technical skills: advanced knowledge of Windows applications, including Illustrator, Word and Excel; preferably experience (but not essential) of working on PDM systems. Good attention to detail.
  • Others: ability to successfully adjust to rapid change; ability to supervise the other Developers within their own team; ability to interact with Product Managers, Sourcing team and vendors and to make good commercial decisions; ability to work under pressure, being open minded and flexible.
