Developed in collaboration with Loughborough University and with significant investment from the Singapore Economic Development Board, the Institute for Sports Research aims to create a sustainable global footprint in the sports Research and Development landscape. With a focus on excellence and knowledge creation, the institute will collaborate with sporting brands and carry out research projects with strong commercialisation potential.  The Institute also aims to provide downstream application development and translate research into commercially viable technology.

The Institute for Sports Research will quickly establish itself as a world class centre for sports technology and engineering research.

The Role / The Person

The Role:

• Lead a team of researchers and PhDs and work closely with academic colleagues and other staff as appropriate to drive the implementation of all on-going research projects.
• Build and maintain commercial relationships with sporting organizations, brands and suppliers.
• Drive specific commercial partnerships and arrangements in order to commercialise technology that is a direct result of the Institute's programmes.
• Liaise with the committees and principals to follow up all current and on-going leads with outside industries.
• Engage with key stakeholders to ensure open and fluid communication and the sharing of best practice.
• Oversea the financial management of the Institute.

The Person: 

• A minimum of ten years experience in engineering projects, research and development in the sports or associated industries sector.
• Strong background in research and development in industry collaborations, preferably with consumer / sports brands.
• Experience in building and leading a successful team in a multi layered environment.
• Commercially astute with the know-how of translating successful Research and Development into commercialisation.
• Experience of managing a P & L and sound financial management.
• Ability to pitch concepts and negotiate partnerships with commercial organisations.
