Background

 

Yorkshire County Cricket Club was founded in 1863 and has the most illustrious history of any of the 18 English first-class counties.

 

Yorkshire won the first of its record thirty County Championship titles in 1893 and the last in 2001. Prior to that Yorkshire were Champion County on five occasions and have also won five major domestic one-day trophies.

 

In almost 150 years the Club has seen some true legends of world cricket pass through its playing squad. From Brian Close, Fred Trueman, Ray Illingworth and Geoffrey Boycott to the modern era which has seen Michael Vaughan, Darren Gough, and Tim Bresnan represent the White Rose County.

 

The £21m Carnegie Pavilion development has provided the club with some excellent new facilities and has ensured that the 18,000 capacity Headingley Carnegie ground remains one of the most impressive sporting venues in the UK. The newly negotiated staging agreement guarantees the club international cricket for each of the next seven years.  

 

Role:

 

Yorkshire are now looking for a Commercial Director to build on the excellent existing platform. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Work closely with Chairman / Chief Executive to formulate a comprehensive new commercial plan aligned to that of a leading Global sports venue and taking into account the recently negotiated staging agreement for international cricket.
  • Responsibility for executing this plan effectively, enabling Yorkshire CCC to deliver record sales and profit.
  • Responsible for improving all Commercial revenue streams from Ticketing to Non Match Day sales and for managing & motivating the team of professionals working in these areas.
  • Develop relationships with existing and new commercial partners, negotiating long term profitable agreements.
  • Responsibility for developing new revenue streams.

 

Skills & Experience Required

 

Essential:

 

  • Strong track record of closing sales deals.
  • Experience in selling some form of media or sponsorship solutions to brands.
  • Experience of operating at a senior management level in negotiations.
  • Proven experience of managing a sales and marketing team.

  

Desirable:

 

  • Experience of working in sport, with a passion for cricket.

 

Behavioural Experience:

 

  • Ability to operate at a strategic level, to contribute to the running of a business.
  • Strong communication skills      
  • Self motivated with the drive to achieve targets and budgets.
  • Success motivated, resilient, tenacious and ambitious
