Background

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is the international governing body of Football. Its headquarters are located in Zurich, Switzerland, FIFA is responsible for the organisation and governance of football's major international tournaments, most notably the FIFA World Cup.

 

Key Responsibilities

Directly reporting into the Head of Commercial Legal your duties include:

  • Drafting of licensing & consumer retail agreements and related service agreements
  • Further legal assistance in the negotiation and interpretation of licensing & consumer retail agreements
  • Assistance in the activation of FIFA’s global rights protection programme
  • Support in the drafting and implementation of manuals and guidelines, as well as providing assistance in adjusting FIFA regulations regarding the licensing & retail business
  • General legal service support to FIFA’s consumer retail team
  • Assistance with the implementation and continuing development of FIFA’s global licensing programme and strategy
  • Cooperation with external counsels and risk management

 

Skills & Experience Required

Besides the fact that you are an excellent team player who loves the game of football, your qualifications include:

  • Qualified to practise law
  • 2 to 4 years of legal training, and commercial legal experience “on the job” in the licensing & consumer retail industry with a thorough understanding of the legal background of commercial licensing and retail models
  • Experience in intellectual property law and copyright work
  • Excellent English knowledge with professional experience of working and drafting contractual documents in English (native speaker of advantage)
  • Skills in another FIFA language (German, French or Spanish)
  • Comfortable with using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • High degree of personal initiative and an interactive approach to marketing issues
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexible and able to work well under pressure, reliable, able to accomplish tasks in a timely and accurate manner
  • Team player with an affinity for various cultural sensibilities
