Founded in 1866, Harlequins is one of the oldest Rugby Clubs in England and their iconic shirt and brand is one of the most recognised global brands in sport. They are currently enjoying huge success on the pitch and sit at the top of the Aviva premiership table, have a number of key players in the revitalised England team, and can boast having the England captain in their squad.
As a result, Quins have recently announced the implementation of a new management restructure to strengthen its resources and capitalise on current and future commercial opportunities and to ensure their long term sustainability. This involves the introduction of a number of new positions across the Commercial and Administrative team, from executive through to director level placements.
The Role
The Big Game is now entering its 5th year. The Big Game was created as a platform to showcase rugby to a wider audience. It is an established part of the Christmas calendar with last year’s attendance setting a new world attendance record of 82,000 people.
The Big Game Executive will be tasked to maintain and grow the commercial success of the event, while expanding the notion of the Big Game so that it has greater impact on Harlequin’s strategic priorities throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities

To be the project lead for the Big Game series

To deliver on business plan KPI’s for the annual big game
-
To work cross functionally within the Club to ensure that the Big Game delivers on wider club objectives e.g. community, sponsors, new fan generation, customer experience enhancement

Establish mechanisms to track and monitor those who have attended the Big Game and to encourage them to become Harlequins’ fans and Stoop visitors
-
Create optimal ticketing strategy , in conjunction with the commercial department to ensure wide access for all of our fans
-
Agree and implement commercial model for the Big Game that does not expose the club to unacceptable financial risk

To ensure the Big Game concept stays fresh and market leading and cement it as one of the greatest sporting events in the UK
-
To negotiate and create sales packages for the sales team to sell (e.g. hospitality and box sales)

To work with club sponsors on delivering their activation and marketing objectives
-
To track and measure all marketing activities associated with Big Game series
-
To optimise revenue generation through marketing
-
To ensure the brand integrity of the club in relation to the Big Game series
Skills and Experience Required
-
Experience in major event management (preferably in sports)
-
Good marketing experience, in implementing large scale, multi-channel, high profile campaigns

Strong commercial acumen

Track record in delivering commercial successful innovative and creative projects

Strong project management skills
-
Natural networker, with ability to develop strong relationships with key stakeholders
-
The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
-
Experience and knowledge with social media campaigns would be a real benefit

Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
-
A strategic thinker with a demonstrable understanding of the financial implications of marketing activities
