Babolat is a French tennis, badminton, and padel equipment company, headquartered in Lyon, best known for its strings and tennis racquets which are used by several top players. The company has made strings since 1875, when Pierre Babolat created the first strings made of natural gut. Babolat continued to focus on strings until 1994, when it became a “total tennis” company, producing also racquet frames and selling them in Europe. It then expanded sales to Japan, and later to the USA in 2000. Sales of Babolat racquets increased rapidly in North America and Europe. Babolat is also a pioneer in connected sport technology and launched a connected tennis racket in 2014 and a connected wrist-worn tennis wearable with PIQ in 2015.

Today, Babolat can be found in more than 100 countries, 20 000 sporting goods stores and 20 000 partner clubs. Babolat offers a complete range of products for tennis and badminton players, with an offer to suit every style of play.

Based in Guangzhou, this role will be responsible for the 360 degree management of Babolat Badminton marketing–starting from the thorough study and understanding of the market, to fuel the Innovation department with the solution of the market needs and strategy, to work side by side with product development department to create the product range fitting for the market, to co-work with the brand activation team for product activation plan and sales plan, to manage the market data such as category P&L, product PLM, stock etc.

Key Responsibilities

Implement and monitor performance indicators for the Badminton business throughout the world. Ensure the Badminton strategy is implemented worldwide at the right level taking into account the local specificities. Responsible in executing the Brand and Company Badminton Policy in building his Marketing Policy on a 3years plan called the PSO at Babolat (Plan Strategic and Operational). In charge of Marketing P&L for the Badminton Business Line.

Define the new ranges of badminton products and manage the existing ones

  • Monitor the final product development with our designer, engineers and suppliers
  • Create product codes, monitor samples and target prices

Carry on market research and studies on players’ needs together with the Badminton Expert, The Market Managers and Sports Marketing Department

  • Be in charge of Business Intelligence management
  • Produce summary documents on particular marketing issues and

Define and follow-up the production of sales tools

  • Be in charge of the creation of product catalogues
  • Create or update product sales arguments information
  • Create or update product descriptions for the website

Trade Marketing

  • Collaborate with company Brand Activation/Trade Marketing Teams
  • Produce appropriate Sales supporting Trade Marketing actions, formats, contents
  • Coordinate with Market managers to ensure local implementation


  • Collaborate with Badminton Expert, APAC Management and Company Brand activation Department to build  Badminton communication strategy and ensure its right implementation on the markets
  • Work with communication Agency on specific marketing plans

Sports Marketing

  • Collaborate with Sports marketing department, Badminton Expert, APAC Management to ensure Sport Marketing Strategy is in line with Company objectives and Badminton Marketing strategy.

Skills & Experience Required


  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Marketing
  •  5 to 10 years marketing experience in an international environment.
  •  People management experience.
  •  Master IT tools (Powerpoint, spreadsheets, databases, decision –making tools)
  •  Fluent in Chinese and English (French is a plus)
  •  Experience with the Sport Industry and even better with Badminton world would be strong advantage
  •  Product management experience would be a big plus
  •  To be able to organize and plan
  •  Ability to motivate people about projects
  •  Good interpersonal skills
  •  Experience and comfortable in Matrix type organizations
  •  Creative (Story Teller) and independent
  •  To be able to analyze and summarize
  •  Sports person.
