Business Development Manager – Smartlife

Smartlife are specialists in smart garment technology who have built a world-class textile-based sensor and small electronic “brain” that can be integrated into conventional garments to extract biophysical information such as heart rate, breathing rate and muscle activity. There are exciting applications for the technology across sports, fitness, healthcare and industrial workwear. With strong financial backing and a completely market-ready product, we plan to launch by leveraging the market access (marketing capital and distribution channels) of established brands. We are already in commercial partnership discussions with a number of warm leads, but there is scope to build out the sales pipeline considerably.

The Role

  • Own and develop core business development strategies to take our innovative product to market globally through strategic partnerships across multiple verticals (sport, health, industrial, military)
  • Identify and land key partnerships and/or license agreements with relevant B2C brands and companies to leverage their established channels to market
  • Engage the right members of our team at the right time to structure commercial agreements most effectively by utilising cross-team expertise
  • Scope for rapid acceleration in responsibility as the company scales in future

Qualifications & Skills

  • Relationships and/or relevant networks in both sports and health retail sectors (priority sectors) with access to key decision makers
  • Proven ability to create strong and stable commercial partnerships
  • Experience in the emerging technology sector
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to work efficiently and professionally with both clients and team members

Location: At least 1-2 days a week in Manchester, but relocation unnecessary and options to work remotely for the remainder of the week.
