The Role

Based in the global Salomon headquarters in Annecy, France, you will organize and execute on developing Technical equipment products (helmets, goggles, protections, bags, poles) from concept definition through product range management to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial, and corporate growth objectives for all markets. You will develop products and marketing strategies for the product category based on the specific needs of the markets and in consistency with the Brand Strategy and the Group Strategy.

Core Responsibilities

Define and steer the strategy of the product category

  • Define the category strategy in line with brand’s positioning
  • Analyze the market and benchmark the competition
  • Contribute to the Salomon brand positioning
  • Contribute to the Salomon Winter Sports Equipment strategy definition
  • Develop the intellectual property strategy and coordinate with Legal Department
  • Work with the Operations team on the sourcing strategy
  • Build the long term innovation plan with the innovation platform

Drive the performance of the business

  • Define and manage the product range in line with the strategy
  • Manage the development process
  • Coordinate with the Brand team to develop the right marketing tools to support the range on the market (Sell In, Sell Out, Consumer activation)
  • Lead the launch process and participate to the promotion of the offers with the markets and the commercial relay
  • Support the Go To Market team for training
  • Maintain products quality standard
  • Manage the P&L

Business Unit Management

  • Give clear directions and inspire the team
  • Organize and supervise the different functions (development, design, marketing, quality) and plan actions and means to deliver the expected level of performance

Communication

  • Internally: Manage interfaces with Brand Marketing, Operations, Go to Market organizations
  • Externally: Negotiate with providers and external partners.

Personal Skills

Qualifications

  • 10 to 15 years of professional experience in business and marketing in the international sporting goods industry, including 5 years in a management role
  • 5-year degree course in business related field
  • Leadership
    • Ability to lead and convince. Excellent communication and people management skills. Committed to achieve results: set ambitious targets, achieve them and know when to step back in order to improve the results.
  • Marketing expertise
    • Strong background in marketing for relevant product lines (experience with helmets & goggles is a plus). Good understanding of the product life cycle, from concept creation to market.
  • Customer service
    • Understand and integrate the needs of internal/external clients, in order to respond adequately in line with the interest of the company.
  • Team work and collaboration
    • Promote information sharing and team spirit, contribute to collective efficiency. Ability to lead transversal projects.

    • Encourage and manage the change. Be able to question themselves and adjust their behavior and methods (if necessary) to achieve the expected results.

  • Fluency in English (French and/or additional language skills would be advantageous).

This role requires a dynamic and solution-oriented professional with excellent interpersonal skills. The preferred candidate will be a team player, will display strong leadership and self-motivation, while working with a team. Proven track record of success in a similar role and ability to travel frequently will be required.
