WTA Finals 2019-2028
The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) was founded in 1973 by Billie Jean King, it is the principal organising body of women’s professional tennis and governs the WTA Tour. The WTA Finals is played annually at the end of the season for the top ranked players on the WTA Tour and is considered to be the most prestigious event after the Grand Slams.
On Jan 18th 2018 it was announced that, under Gemdale Sports’ operation, Shenzhen will host the WTA Finals, the most prestigious event on the WTA calendar, from 2019 to 2028. Under terms of the record-setting ten-year agreement, the Top 8 singles players and the Top 8 doubles teams will compete for a share of a record prize money purse of $14 million.

By providing tennis-featured international sports education, tournaments and stadiums operations, and athletes training and consulting services, Gemdale Sports aimed to be the comprehensive operation platform for international sports and education business in China.
In the recreational tennis, Gemdale Sports owns nearly 100 tennis courts amongst China territory, which make it the largest tennis club in China. In the professional tennis, Gemdale Sports is one of the leading operators of world-class tournaments including ATP, WTA and ITF as well as domestic events such as Nike Cup and China Junior Tennis Masters Tour. Gemdale’s extensive experience in tennis means that they are uniquely positioned to create viable and sustainable programs to harness the assets and opportunities offered by major sports and government-led initiatives in China. With the WTA Finals now in Gemdale’s stable of events, Gemdale Sports is looking to further strengthen their team with the recruitment of experienced talents.
As the Chief Commercial Officer of Gemdale Sports, this role will have responsibility for the commercial operations and revenue generating activities of all the Gemdale sports assets, which include WTA Finals, sports education, stadiums operations and athletes training. As the commercial leader, this person will have the flexibility in terms of how to better commercialize the assets (sponsorships, licensing etc.) from a global perspective, and to guarantee a general overseeing of all commercial activities providing local guidance and senior support for the team.
