Founded by ex-professional gamer Carlos Rodriguez, G2 has quickly become one of the fastest growing and most popular esports teams in the business.
With a total of 12 teams at present, including League of Legends, CS:GO and Hearthstone, G2 is permanently on the front foot when exploring new titles and audiences, attracting a plethora of dedicated, high quality players, who uphold the core values of professionalism that are associated with the organisation
Despite only being founded in 2014, G2 have already achieved huge success. As the current titleholder and four-time consecutive winner of the EU LCS, as well as winning the best Hearthstone team in 2015 and 2016, G2 have demonstrated their strength at both European and Global levels
G2 have managed to attract a number of high profile partners, with the likes of Vodafone and Logitech recognising the value of opportunity to link up with a fast growing and forward thinking esports team, while also managing to partner with high profile sportsmen such as Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes and F1 driver Fernando Alonso.
With a team full of experience and industry know-how in the gaming sector, a drive for professionalism along with ambitious expansion plans results in the need to develop all functional areas of the business; everything from commercial to operations.
The appointment of a Chief Operating Officer is designed to be the catalyst to drive best practice through the organisation to enhance professionalism and continue the impressive growth that has come to be associated with G2 Esports.
The CEO will be handing over significant responsibility to the COO so that he can focus on the wider business growth strategy. The COO will manage the day to day functions of the business and will play an influential role in furthering the club’s development, both commercially and operationally. In particular, they will be responsible for building and developing the management team fit for the purpose of advancing the team on every level.
Although it is felt that the successful could come from another industry vertical, it is essential that the Chief Operating Officer understands, and buys into, the unique opportunity and environment of esports and this fast paced and nascent industry. Being empathetic with the ethos of G2 is a must but also someone who is going to be able to drive structure and best-practice processes across the organisation.
The above list of duties is indicative rather than exhaustive. The COO will be expected to carry out all such additional duties as are reasonably commensurate with the role.
The role will be based at G2 Esports headquarters in Berlin, Germany.
