Essendon Football Club has a reputation as a leader in the Australian sports industry and we are committed to our vision of being recognised as the most respected, inclusive and successful sporting club in the country, consistently setting the benchmark both on and off the field.  We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Partnerships Manager to ‘Don the Sash’ and join our Commercial Team based at our club headquarters in Melbourne Airport.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Partnerships this role plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery of the Club’s sponsorship contractual obligations and delivering long term value through client service excellence.  We are looking for a self-starter, high achiever with strong account management and sport sponsorship experience to join our Commercial Partnerships Team.

In the role you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive service plans, sponsorship programs and marketing campaigns aimed at maximising the commercial outcomes for your portfolio of sponsors.  You will build and leverage high-level relationships with key client decision makers, ensure the effective management of the day to day relationship with sponsors as well as deliver exceptional customer service to a broad range of stakeholders.

In the role you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring timely and effective delivery of key benefits available to Commercial Partners of the Club
  • Development and implementation of sponsorship activation plans aligned to specific commercial partners’ business and marketing objectives
  • Coordinating plans with Media, Events and Marketing divisions to implement integrated activation programs designed to deliver maximum commercial return for all stakeholders
  • Producing comprehensive sponsorship and campaign post-analysis reports to present to Commercial Partners

What we are looking for?

To be considered for the role, candidates must have the following essential skills and experience:

  • Proven sponsorship account management experience in the sports industry (ideally 3-7 years)
  • Experience in developing and presenting marketing campaigns, including digital & social media
  • Ability to work flexibly across 7 days during the football season
  • Exceptional customer service approach with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across a range of key stakeholders
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen with experience in managing budgets, analysis and reporting
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Extremely organised with a high attention to detail
  • Permanent Residency in Australia, or appropriate visa to work permanently

Other attributes which we would value but are not essential include:

  • Tertiary Qualification (or currently studying) in Business/Commerce/Marketing or related field
  • Exposure to a sales environment
