FITEQ – Communications Director

Communications Director – Fédération Internationale de Teqball


The Fédération Internationale de Teqball (FITEQ) is the governing body presiding over all matters related to the discipline of Teqball. As a federation, FITEQ’s primary mission is to introduce and develop the sport globally and unite the international Teqball community. Teqball is aiming to grow at a rapid pace and to quickly become one of the most exciting sports to come on the scene; as such this federation wants to be a leading voice in developing up and coming sports while promoting best practices and guidelines.

The Role

This leadership position is tasked with developing and delivering an effective, influential and dynamic communication strategy on an international scope in order to ensure a concise and effective message to external stake holders.

The chosen candidate will play a key role in communicating the federation’s mission statement in its intent to become a major player in the international sports scene. In addition, the Communications Director will effectively communicate and promote FITEQ’s community driven, and social initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage communications relations with continental/national stakeholders, sponsors and other key stakeholders to ensure all PR opportunities are maximised in line with over-arching corporate objectives
  • Lead the ongoing development and delivery of a central communications strategy in line with organisational needs, covering media relations, e-communications, sponsor communications, internal communications, publications, stakeholder engagement and design
  • Ensure that the Federation’s Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) are held to the highest standard
  • Oversee the delivery of an effective digital strategy including the continued development and growth of the social media outputs
  • Directly manage the communications department and work closely with external communications consultants to co-ordinate and maximise the effectiveness of communications activity
  • Ensure that there is an effective press, public relations and campaign plan that identifies appropriate audiences, which reflects the priorities, identifies potential issues and engages relevant stakeholders
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior management team on all communications matters, developing messaging and tactics as required for the effective handling of issues arising
  • Oversee the delivery of key corporate communications publications
  • Develop the internal communications strategy and outputs to ensure all staff are fully engaged with the work and direction of the organisation
  • Work within agreed revenue budgets for the communications department and monitor financial performance against budget, identifying and addressing cash flow and over/under spend as appropriate
  • Ensure that staff in the communications department are recruited, managed, appraised and developed and that effective arrangements are made for the development staff in line with corporate policies and procedures

Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Communications/PR
  • 7+ years of extensive knowledge and experience in communications, PR, media relations and social marketing within an international sports environment
  • Experience in the delivery of effective and successful communications/PR strategies
  • Sound experience of developing new ICT digital technologies to support the delivery of communications and including internet and intranet design and development in a large organisation
  • Successful track record of engaging with and influencing a large and widely distributed workforce
  • Fluent in English and French. Any other additional language is a big plus
  • Significant experience in leadership and management roles
  • Able to build relationships and coalitions to maintain partnerships and service with a clear customer focus and strategic vision for services delivery
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Highly developed with effective presentation, facilitation, consultancy and communications skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Good people management skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team to successfully deliver in a complex, pressurised environment
  • Experienced with forecasting, analysing and managing substantial budgets
  • Autonomy and credibility
  • Experienced in the communication environment of competitive sport(s)
  • Available for international travel
