Federation Internationale de Teqball – International Teqball Federation (FITEQ)

Established in April 2017, the Fédération Internationale de Teqball (FITEQ) is the governing body presiding over all matters relating to the sport of Teqball. With its offices based in Lausanne (SUI) and Budapest (HUN), the sport of Teqball has enjoyed strong growth over the past years as a result of increasing athlete participation, a growing fanbase and the development of strategic partnerships. Such progress was demonstrated by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) when, in August 2018, its General Assembly unanimously recognised ‘Teqball’ as an official sport in the OCA sport programme. Insofar as the event calendar is concerned, two editions of the Teqball World Cup have been held thus far. The inaugural World Cup was held in Budapest in June 2017 attracting the participation of 20 teams. In October 2018, 42 countries competed for the total prize pool USD $100,000 at the 2nd Teqball World Cup, held in Reims (FRA) entertaining the audience of 3000 spectators.

Building on these recent accomplishments, FITEQ seeks to continue growing and developing the sport globally by expanding its National Federation framework and its competition portfolio at a rapid pace. The Sport of Teqball

Teqball is an up-and-coming, innovative sport unlike any other and was first developed in 2012. Teqball involves two to four players returning a ball over a specially designed “Teqball table” in the framework of stringent game rules. It is a unique sport that teaches players to react quickly to the ball’s movement. Skills are at the core of the game, as no physical contact between the players or the table is permitted.
Teqball is the perfect tool for both professional and amateur sportspeople to develop their technical knowledge, concentration skills and endurance!

The Role

The Event Manager actively contributes to the leadership team that will establish and manage the events framework by developing guidelines and tools. They will allocate resources to plan, organise and deliver international and national events effectively and efficiently. The successful candidate brings industry-related knowledge, event delivery expertise and overall sport management experience to FITEQ. As a senior manager in the federation, the Event Manager is responsible for the management of a team of five Continental Coordinators and works closely together with the Competition Manager.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Event Manager include but are not limited to the following;

  • Lead the policy development, operational management and delivery in respect to the establishment of the events framework; including the creation of an events manual
  • Maintain close relationships with National Federations and Event Organisers to optimize the operational mechanics of FITEQ
  • Research and identify opportunities for the development of events business to achieve set targets
  • Coordinate and provide administrative, operational and logistical support to National Federations, FITEQ Committees and the Executive Board
  • Oversee the development and management of programmes relating to national activities and to support competition coordination and delivery
  • Complete other such duties and activities as directed by Sport Director

Qualifications & Skills
The personal profile and experience of the Event Manager shall include but are not limited to the following:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Expertise in international event delivery from the sports industry or having managed conventions and venues
  • Value-driven personality to be a true ambassador for Teqball and inspire colleagues
  • Broad knowledge of the international sport industry, sport federations, event operations and project management
  • Knowledge of tournament sports is an asset
  • Accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining a long‐term focus
  • Proven track record of providing managerial leadership to a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work and navigate within a small, growing structure
  • Proven track record in leading complex change management projects; including budget- and risk management
  • A passion for the discipline and complete commitment to contribute to its growth in the world of sport
  • Ability to prioritize to efficiently manage projects and deliverables
  • Ability to exert influence and work in a complex environment
  • High ethical standards with the ability to prioritise the requirements of colleagues
  • People management experience, strong interpersonal skills and adaptability
  • Fluency in English; additional language(s) are an asset

Location and Working Hours

The role is located in Budapest however international travel is expected. Due to the nature of the sporting sector, working outside of traditional hours will also be required from time to time.
