The Rugby Union of Russia (RUR) is the governing body (national sporting federation) in Russia for the sport of rugby union. It operates development programmes to grow the game and high performance programmes to support men’s and women’s national teams in 15s and sevens. Russia has a strong domestic game and commenced a new academy system in 2018. The RUR has high aspirations for the success of the nation in global tournaments.
The national senior men’s 7s team is currently ranked 16th in the world and qualified for Rugby 7s World Cup 2018 in San Francisco and finishing in 14th place. Previously Russia Men’s 7s team is four times European Champion (2007, 2009, 2016, 2017) and RWC Sevens 2013 Bowl winners. Russia was also a core member of the HSBC World Series during three seasons (2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18) and unfortunately stepped down this year. The main target for RUR is to return to the World Series through the Hong Kong Qualifier tournament in 2019. The national team is managed by a group of local coaches and specialist. All current national team players are fully professional, with the majority playing their domestic rugby in Russia’s Super League.
Full-time National Team Head Coach
To continue to progress the competitive standard of the 7s Men’s national team, RUR is seeking a full-time, internationally experienced Head Coach to lead, drive and manage the RUR 7s coaching structure.
The Successful applicant will be required to lead the national team through its international tournaments with the main target to qualify for the HSBC World Series and Olympic games. The position requires a substantial amount of international travel, including a minimum of nine months per annum based in Russia.

Qualification, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
This position requires a resourceful Head Coach that can balance competing demands, prioritise work functions and produce high quality work with the resources available. With some players based overseas and the large majority residing in Russia, an experienced Head Coach will need to select a squad and develop players into a cohesive, professional and disciplined team in a short time frame.
