We are expanding our programming for DAZN to a 3rd market in 2017. It is a period of exciting expansion in the company and we are looking for the best operators to help us achieve our goals.

The role we are initially hiring for is an experienced Head of Production who is required to lead all aspects of the DAZN output within the Canadian Market.  The successful candidate will formally report to the Executive Director of Programming – DAZN while also working closely with the General Manager Canada.

On a day to day basis the candidate will oversee all output within for the Canadian market both programming. The output will be primarily be produced in Leeds (UK) therefore the candidate will need to be based here.  The output will be produced in English language and French Canadian.  This will be focused on approximately 5000 Live events per calendar year.  The live events will require varying levels of production, ranging from local commentary only to bespoke match production.  Furthermore, the candidate will oversee additional content for the product that includes match highlights, sports documentary and weekly magazine style programming.  They will also manage all creative assets for both on and off platform marketing.

They must be a proven team leader, strong manager of people, and should consider their communication skills as one of their most valuable assets.  Their ability to establish and maintain relationships across a spectrum of collaborators, from other rights partners to suppliers is of key importance. The team will be lead by the Head of Production’s example of how to create world-class production output consistently in a well-organised professional team environment.

Due to the nature of the global sports calendar the production output will often run across a 24-hour period. It is imperative that a core production team is combined with a strong freelance roster in order to maintain the quality of output.

As we continue to rollout the product in other key international markets the collaboration between each market and the central production unit is key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the operational output across all production areas within market.  Must provide monthly budget updates to Executive Director of Programming – DAZN
  • Establishes and upholds high quality production values across all output
  • Manages the Programming operations team to ensure the organisational areas around the live output, maintains communication with central production unit and internal staff to ensure smooth production and delivery
  • Day to day management of staff, including rotas, holiday, contracts and HR issues
  • Builds and maintains communication between staff members and other business units in DAZN
  • Has a commitment and proven experience in training and coaching their team.
  • Working closely with the Executive Director of Programming – DAZN to oversee the development of production services, smart utilisation of global resources and identification of potential synergies across PERFORM’s wider production business.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience of producing in live broadcasting, ideally in sports
  • First rate knowledge of and interest in Sport both locally and globally
  • Evidence of being able to work effectively with all members of varied production teams at a high level
  • Commercial acumen and knowledge of cost management
  • A good understanding of the technical processes involved in Live Sports broadcasting and program production (short and long form).
  • A thorough understanding of the production surrounding World Feeds for sport
  • Understanding of content production for OTT distribution.
  • Understanding of content management systems and delivery of media
  • Ability to work under pressure coupled with working to tight deadlines.
  • Languages – English is essential and French Canadian is desirable
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office desirable
